About
Towing Capacity Lookup is a free, independent tool that answers one question: can my vehicle tow it?
Why I built this
Hi, I'm Mary Barnes. I've loved the outdoors since I earned my undergraduate degree in adventure sports.
One thing kept bugging me: the information you need to tow safely is never all in one place. The towing rating is buried in a manufacturer's PDF, the boat or camper weight is on a different site, and almost nobody does the tongue weight and payload math that decides whether it's actually safe.
So I put it all in one place. Pick your vehicle, pick what you want to tow, and get a straight answer. I figured everyone who loves the outdoors as much as I do would find it useful.
How I get the numbers
Towing ratings come from the manufacturers: official specification sheets, press kits, owner's manuals, and the towing guides automakers publish each year. Every vehicle page links to its source and shows when it was last checked. When I can't confirm a number against the manufacturer's own document, the page says so.
Trailer weights come from boat, camper, and trailer makers' published specs. Because published weights are usually dry, I add a realistic allowance for fuel, water, batteries, and gear, and explain the assumption on each page.

Found a mistake?
Please tell me. I'd rather fix a wrong number today than have someone tow on it.
